Kill Team - Iron Warriors pt.3

Atreus is back! Well, they don’t call him ‘The Immortal’ for nothing…

In my last Iron Warriors Kill Team post, you may recall that I’d said that Atreus needed some additional chains and spiky bits to finish him off. Well, before he takes a face full of black primer, I thought I’d share with you what additional bling he ended up with…

First up, his Star of Chaos banner pole has been enhanced with a length of entwined chain…

'For the life of me, I can't seem to stroke a cat without pulling it's head off...'

Next, his close combat arm has had spikes added down the length of each claw and around the cuff. Additional chain link has also been twisted round the wrist to give the arm extra ‘punch’…

The right arm has been rounded off with an icon of chaos on the shoulder plate…

Moving round to the front, Atreus has had a further icon of chaos added to the right breast plate and an honour shield added to the left. The shield comes courtesy of the Chaos Marauder Horsemen sprue.

At the bottom of the sarcophagus, Atreus has a new ‘re-breather’ unit with which to pump all manner of combat drugs and neuro stims directly into his entombed husk of a body... The sarcophagus has been rounded off with new bolt studs and the addition of totem chains and wards.

Plasma - The Connoisseur's Choice...

Moving round to the left arm, the Plasma Cannon needed beefing up and also needed to look less like the Epic 40k Imperator Titan weapon it originated from. I settled on taking the lower power cables from a Land Raider Lascannon and cutting them into the required shape to slot in underneath…

I also added some additional spikes to the top of the Plasma Cannon barrel. You can also just see a further chaos skull icon added to the left shoulder plate…

And finally, bringing up the rear, Atreus’ engine block has had some further skulls on chains added for good measure…

'Right then, where do you want me?...'
While we’re here, we’ll also take a look at Torador and Kargaran who have both had some final conversions in preparation for their paint jobs…

Torador’s auspex now has the cabling attached and glued into place. A small round of platis-card was required onto which a selection of cables were added. These were lifted from the servo skulls found on the Space Marine Devestators sprue. I picture the cables snaking and swaying in the air as they hunt for the pulsing signals of unsuspecting targets…

And hear is the finished servo-arm housing – made up from all manner of small elements cut from various vehicle and weapon bits.

And here’s Kargaran who’s finally had his armpits filled! I’m old skool, so I veer towards fine grade Milliput for these sort of jobs as I generally tend to find it easier to work with than Green Stuff...

'The Iron Warriors' - Coming to a cinema near you...

Well, there you go lads, you’ve been appropriately pimped out and have even had your bases gritted. Sure signs that you’re now ready for a coat of primer and a dip in the ol’ Bolt Gun Metal…... I mean Leadbelcher…

Until next time ;)

  1. Looking good chap, love the work on the auspex; the cables really do look like they're snaking around in the air, very cool :)
